Introduction-
The idea of a photography workshop is always a good learning experience and provides one with more practical knowledge in the subject. It could be attended by amateurs, professionals or anyone who is interested in the field of photography.
Workshops could be conducted in a studio or even as a photowalk. Attending a photowalk photography workshop is a fun activity where one gets to experiment and shoot with a professional photographer. One gets to spend time on the streets, capturing the architecture around the city, the people, culture and candid moments.
COCO Creative Studio/Joo Chiat Road-
Our studio – COCO Creative Studio is situated in Joo Chiat Road from where the photowalks are conducted. One can use the FUJIFILM cameras from the studio for the workshop. This area has heritage properties, eateries, cafes and shops. One gets to explore the area and photograph the pretty streets. One also learns about the Peranakan culture and its heritage. The neighbourhood is worth a visit. It is full of activity and very different from the Central Business District of Singapore.
Koon Seng Road-
We also visit Koon Seng Road, which is just round the corner. There are colourful and beautiful shophouses on both sides of the road. It has now become a famous Instagrammable location, where people take photographs outside these vibrant shophouses. Sometimes even wearing similar coloured clothes as the heritage shophouses.
Photowalk learning experience-
One gets to learn firsthand from a professional photographer about how to change their perspective and view things from varied angles, how to compose and frame their images while maintaining the aesthetics and avoiding distortions. We also learn more about FUJIFILM cameras, their functions and film simulation modes.
It involves a lot of practical learning. While attending a photowalk, one also gets to network with and meet like-minded people. It also helps one in becoming more aware of their surroundings. They learn to pay attention to things around them while photographing, such as, pedestrians and traffic.
One can carry and experiment with one or more lenses. They learn how to make the most of the natural elements around them, composing them into a creative image. For instance, if the sunlight is too harsh, one can always try and shoot silhouettes.
It is exciting to venture out with your camera and explore a new area while gaining knowledge of photography and learning an art.
